What is Family Camp?

Family Camp is a therapeutically structured experience, intentionally crafted to support the growth of each individual family to produce lasting change. By taking therapy out of the consultation room and incorporating the benefits of nature, we can build bridges between the therapeutic environment and sustainable change in a real-world setting. This innovative approach offers a unique opportunity for our therapist and counselors to address issues as they arise during family camp, which might not surface in a traditional counseling setting. Plus, there is lots of fun to be had!

Logistics:

Family Camp is offered in a variety of settings tailored to each family’s style. Camp has been run in rustic and luxurious locations, depending on individual taste. Camp might include: surfing, hiking, camping, fishing, rock climbing, bike riding, yoga, massage, healthy prepared meals, comfort food, or campfire cooking. Whether you are seeking excitement, serenity, or a combination of both, we have you covered.

Who should attend camp?

  • Families whose relationships have suffered due to a stressful event.

  • Families whose stress has built over time becoming chronic, leading to emotional distance or poor communication. This happens frequently when a loved one struggles with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, or addiction. These stressful patterns can also run in the family for generations, with no observable cause.

  • Families challenged by a loved one’s persistent stress that has led to over-working, burnout, loss of work/life balance, or lack of family engagement.

  • Families whose child is acting out or struggling emotionally. Family patterns can be addressed to restore balance and enable change.

  • Family Camp can support the successful transition of a loved one completing addiction treatment, assisting with reintegration into the family and to life.

Family therapy, or a combination of family and individual therapy may be used as the primary mode of treatment, however, sometimes families benefit more from our innovative approach.

We provide a complimentary consultation to help you decide which approach, or combination of approaches might support your family best.
